I know it is long. These conversations all pertain to the same story. The conversation was continued for a couple of days. Stacy does not know what to make up what her mom means. Stacy called me and told me the story: I said to her “(1) You are getting worked up over nothing. You have to keep in mind you are into the discount store and love clothes. Your mom isn’t in to those type of stores and when people are NOT into something they will say what your mother says which is the following: that you don’t have to go every day and how many clothing items do you need and (2) yes you can finally accept your mom does not care how much or what you buy? MY QUESTION: Do you agree/concur with me give details on why you do or don’t agree. Thanks
THIS HAPPENED WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2008: Stacy went to the 99 cent store. Stacy brought four beautiful blouses for her mom and four for her. Later Stacy gave the blouses to her mom. Her mom loved them and could not wait to wear them. Stacy brought home one blouse and one sweater for Stacy. And a blouse for either her sister or mom. Stacy gave the blouse to her mom. Her mom didn’t love it, even though it is gorgeous. On the other hand, when Stacy showed her mom the blouse Stacy brought for herself Stacy’s mom loved that one
Mom: “Stacy I wish you could have gotten the blouse you brought for yourself for me in my size.â€
Stacy: “I brought three necklaces as well. The price tag says $12.99 but I got the necklaces for 99 cent so I brought three different colorsâ€
Stacy’s mom :“You know you have to get a job to wear all these clothesâ€
Stacy: “Mom please clarifyâ€
Mom: “I just mean you have all those clothes. I mean if they were not 99 cent would you buy all of themâ€
Stacy: “No I wouldn’tâ€
(Then they had a fight and said some mean things to another)
THIS CONVERSATION HAPPENED ON THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2008 IN THE EVENING .
Stacy: “Why was it my attitude yesterday that got you upsetâ€
Mom: “You kept bothering me about the blouse which annoyed me.â€
Stacy: “So why didn’t you tell me to leave?â€
Mom: “I did but you wouldn’t let up. All I said yesterday was that you when you work you need more changes. Don’t you agree?â€
Stacy: “What does that have to do with anythingâ€
Mom: “But don’t you agree that you need more changes for work. I mean if you are home you don’t need clothes sitting in the closet. Ok you go to the 99 cent store, but would you buy those clothes if they were full priceâ€
Stacy: “No, but I like going to the 99 cent storeâ€
Mom: “But you don’t have to go every day. I mean I have to go to the supermarket, but what would you think if I went every dayâ€
Stacy: “No going to the supermarket everyday is differentâ€
Mom: “I need food for the house, but wouldn’t you think it would be obsessive if I went every day. It isn’t like you need clothes, you want them, you have enough for 100 yearsâ€
Mom: “Here is the book you want to read. I finished itâ€
Stacy: “I feel as if you are saying I shouldn’t go to the 99 cent storeâ€
Mom: “That is what you hear, that is not what I am sayingâ€
THIS CONVERSATION HAPPENED FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2008
Mom: :how do you like this blouse I am wearing that you brought meâ€
Stacy: “It looks great. Do you want to go to the 99 cent store todayâ€
Mom: “Okâ€
Stacy: “Were you saying that I should not have brought all that I have brought at the 99 cent storeâ€
Mom: “NO’
THIS CONVERSATION HAPPENED MARCH 27, 2008
Mom: “Everyone loved the blouse - I wore it todayâ€
Stacy: “Mom since you are talking about clothes - do you care how much or what I broughtâ€
Mom: “I NEVER SAID I CARED. AND NO I DO NOT CAREâ€
